What some of the Choir members have to say:
The Rock'n Soul Choir is unique in this modern world, a place where you can be yourself, raise your voice and sing to the heaven's and laugh with pure joy. It is a happy, supportive non competitive environment that lifts the spirits of all those who attend. Congratulations to the Loh Family for their gift to us all! – Jan Morgans
As my kids have now left school, it was time to do something for me. I can honestly say it is the most enjoyable and rewarding thing I have done for just me. I love Monday nights, not only for the singing but the new friendships I have made. Candice, Susie and Jerry make the experience so much fun, that I never get that “can’t be bothered tonight” feeling - Jane Higgins
The Rock'n Soul choir has instilled in many of us a 'love of' ... a love of singing, performing, friendship, and above all, fun. The best thing is that this feeling does not end once we walk out the rehearsal hall doors, but stays with us in the friendships we've built, the songs we sing and the wonderful memories we've shared. Best of all, it's great to now also see a second generation of Rock 'n Soulers hitting the stage this year. Joining this wonderful group has been the best thing I ever did - Carolina Peters
As a newer member of the Choir, I joined hoping to combine a love of music and song with further socialising, while learning a little more about the how to’s of singing better, all in a fun way. I can say that’s it’s been a delight so far and ticks all the boxes. The R&S Team are real people who are clearly passionate about what they do and bring an infectious enthusiasm to every evening. The Choir itself is friendly and inviting from the first evening, and judging by how long some have been on board, it clearly ticks all their boxes too. I’d highly recommend the R&S Team and Choir - Meny Lees
Joining the Rock n Soul choir was one of the most fun things I have ever done. Not only was I, together with a couple of mates (and their wives), surrounded by beautiful women every week, but I had a great time trying to learn to harmonise. And having the talented Loh family leading and teaching us was a great buzz. Hats off to Jerry, Susie and Candice for making our Tuesday nights entertaining and highly enjoyable - Freddie Cheah
It is such a wonderful thing to have a place where you can escape and lose yourself in the joy of singing – no pressure to be good, just to be there is enough. No matter what else is going on, Tuesday night is a small oasis of reprieve, when we just get together and make beautiful noise - Louise Bale
Let me see... what Choir means to me... hmmm. Here's a quick thought, though I could write an essay! Fun, frivolity and friendship, that's what Rock'n Soul Choir means to me. No fear of looking silly; just strength in knowing that I'm doing what I enjoy along with a whole bunch of like-minded people. And boy, what great sound we can make when we have mastered a new song! Thank you Susie, Candice and Jerry for the joy you have added to my life - Carmen Langley
I joined The Rock and Soul Choir for the last term in 2009 after going to a concert at The North Sydney Leagues Club. I had no hesitation in joining the Choir and was made to feel a part of the family. It has been such a wonderful experience for me, that I wish, whoever reads this brief statement, makes the same decision that I did and join us, especially if you are a man even if you think you can sing or not. (WE ARE SHORT ON MALE VOICES) Personally, having had some experience with singing in Choirs, I expected a stuffy and pompouss attitude from the leaders as I had in the past, but to my pleasant surprise I had no problem what so ever fitting into, and being made comfortable and part of the extended Choir Family. The lessons though a lot of fun, are conducted in a very professional manner by our main teacher Candice who is a gifted singer and musician. All one has to do, is come along and give it a try; you may be pleasently surprised at the amount of fun and relaxed atmosphère that awaits you. Especially after a hard day at the office or work place. If you would like to meet caring and friendly people on a regular basis, then come and join in the fun!!! With best wishes for the furure and more of the same in 2010 . - Raymond A. Cooke
